I figured I might as well revisit it

it's grey mentally-challenged small horse

with fanfics about neglectful parents, mental disabilities, sickliness, dead moms, and bubble-blowing

I think the Evan Dando lyric's supposed to be a reference to "Rockin' Stroll" by Lemonheads. I thinl.

waking up to a new day
sun's smiling down on me
and my mom
go into her wings

blow into the wand
just like the other kids

I can't turn to my wand (back into the care of bubbles)
though I wish it would work (back under her wings)
