What I Wanna Tell You

from Shane Shan Sean by Buckingham Greene

/

about

This song serves as a prologue to Buckingham Greene. It details my previous failed attempt at a band, subsequent institutionalization, biggest “don’t meet your heroes” moment and anxieties living with my parents. It’s probably a coincidence that most of this happened during my junior year, aka the worst fucking year of college. Fuck the Dwight, fuck the Dwight up its stupid ass.

lyrics

The lonely boy has no golden standard
puts out an ad saying “Best Friend Wanted”
so we were best friends for less than two months
but by the end you wanted me dead
now I’m not doing anything
no, I’m not doing anything
The bird broke my heart into crushed dominoes
and made me lose everything
when I see you on campus, I freak the fuck out
and I drive right out of your sight
and you know what the saddest part is?
I still think you were in the right

r:
This is what I wanna tell you
but I’m sure you don’t have the time
because when I finally tell you
you have moved on with your life
it’s not that I don’t have the words
I just don’t think they should be heard
I’ll hold them in ‘til my face is blue
this is what I wanna tell you

I have the best parents I’ve ever met
as supportive as parents can get
sure, they bug me all about my future
‘cause they see my ears are still wet
hundreds of dollars for therapists
because apparently CBH wasn’t enough
memories of my formative years
are keeping me from telling you all my stuff
your boy’s not a little faggot
contrary to what you might’ve heard
don’t like the PDA on the TV, Mom?
this is why I won’t say that I’m cultured

[r]

How can you tell me to get a fucking life
when my biggest hero made a slave out of his wife?

[r x 2]
